In 1995, Dave Pelzer published his horrifying memoir, A CHILD CALLED IT about his excruciating abuse by his mother. Now his younger brother, Richard, tells the story of what happened when Dave was removed from the household by social services and Richard was cast into a similar role as slave, object, and victim. With a surprising absence of rancor, Richard Pelzer writes graphically not only about the things that were done to him but about the outrageous failure of his father, brothers, neighbors, and the system to do anything about it.
